2026 BYD Atto 3 Performance Malaysia Review: 449 PS AWD EV at RM149,800

The BYD Atto 3 has been one of Malaysia's best-selling electric SUVs, and now there is a hot version. The Atto 3 Performance, launched on 11 September 2026, adds a second motor and all-wheel drive, producing 449 PS and rocketing from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.0 seconds. Only 69 units are available, so it is also a limited-run model.

BYD Atto 3 Performance Price

VariantPrice
Atto 3 UltraRM125,800
Atto 3 PremiumRM138,800
Atto 3 Performance (69 units)RM149,800 nett (RM151,165 OTR, excluding insurance)

Road tax is RM665 per year. A launch package worth up to RM10,000 offers either a free wallbox with installation and RM6,000 overtrade support, or a six-year standard service package and RM5,000 overtrade support.

Dual-Motor Performance

The Performance variant keeps the 313 PS and 380 Nm rear motor and adds a new 136 PS, 180 Nm front motor. Combined output is 449 PS and 560 Nm, and the car runs on an 800V architecture. The 4.0-second sprint puts it in sports-car territory, which is remarkable for a family electric SUV costing around RM150,000.

Battery, Range and Charging

A 74.88 kWh Blade LFP battery provides 470 km of WLTP range, 40 km less than the Premium because of the extra motor. The marketing figure is 530 km on the NEDC cycle. Charging is quick: DC speeds reach 220 kW, taking 10% to 80% in around 25 minutes, and 11 kW AC takes roughly eight hours for a full charge.

Features and Interior

New to this variant are a head-up display, a heated and cooled front armrest fridge and a sliding tonneau cover. It also has an 8.88-inch instrument display, a 15.6-inch non-rotating touchscreen, a column-mounted gear selector that frees up space for twin phone holders with a 50W wireless charger, a panoramic sunroof, 360-degree camera, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and ventilated six-way power front seats in faux leather. The wheels are 18-inch turbine alloys, and boot capacity is 490 litres. Colours are Ski White, Atlantis Grey, Harbour Grey and Cosmos Black.

Safety

There are seven airbags including a centre airbag, and the driver aids are extensive: autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, lane centring assist, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, rear collision warning, door opening warning, front cross traffic alert with auto brake, traffic sign recognition and speed limit assist.

Warranty

The vehicle is covered for six years or 150,000 km, and the battery and motor for eight years or 160,000 km.

Pros and Cons

  • Pros: blistering acceleration, AWD, fast 800V charging, extensive safety kit, unique extras like a fridge and HUD
  • Cons: RM24,000 more than Ultra, 40 km less range than Premium, only 69 units, power is arguably more than most owners need

Verdict

The Atto 3 Performance is a fun halo model rather than a necessity. If you want the sensible choice, the Ultra or Premium will serve you well. But if you enjoy performance and want something rare, the Performance delivers supercar-level acceleration in a practical body. If you are interested, move quickly: the 69-unit allocation will not last.
