2026 Honda WR-V Malaysia Review: New Price, 10-Inch Screen and 360 Camera

Honda has refreshed its compact crossover for 2026, and the updated WR-V, launched on 1 September, adds the kind of technology that was missing from the original: a bigger head unit, a 360-degree camera on the top variant and a wireless charger. Starting from RM94,900, it remains one of the more affordable ways into a Honda SUV.

The line-up now begins with the E, which replaces the previous base S variant.

Exterior Updates

All variants now ride on 17-inch black alloy wheels (215/55R17). The E previously made do with 16-inch wheels, so this is a visible upgrade. The RS gets an all-black grille in place of its old chrome item, and it is the only variant offered with the striking two-tone paint of Blazing Red Pearl with a black roof. Other colours are Platinum White Pearl, Meteoroid Gray Metallic and Stellar Diamond Pearl, while Crystal Black Pearl has been dropped.

Engine and Performance

There is only one powertrain: a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated DOHC i-VTEC engine producing 121 PS at 6,600 rpm and 145 Nm at 4,300 rpm, sent to the front wheels via a CVT. Honda quotes 0-100 km/h in around 11 seconds and a 160 km/h top speed. Nobody will call it quick, but the WR-V is aimed at commuters and small families who value running costs and reliability over speed.

Interior and Features

The biggest news is the 10-inch head unit now standard on every variant, complete with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The dashboard also gets dark steel accents. Variant differences are clear:

  • E: 4.2-inch multi-info display, manual air-conditioning, fabric seats, four speakers, automatic halogen headlamps, keyless entry and push start, plus remote engine start.
  • V: adds LED lighting, a leather steering wheel and armrest, single-zone automatic air-conditioning, six speakers and leather seats.
  • RS: adds red ambient lighting, a wireless phone charger, a 360-degree camera, sequential front indicators, paddle shifters and Honda Connect telematics.

Safety

Honda Sensing is fitted from the E upward, offering forward collision warning with autonomous emergency braking, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, road departure mitigation, adaptive cruise control, auto high beam and lead car departure notification. Honda's LaneWatch passenger-side camera helps with blind spots. The E and V have four airbags, while the RS gets six with two extra curtain airbags. Stability control, ABS, EBD and hill start assist are standard throughout.

Warranty and Service

Honda covers the WR-V with a five-year, unlimited-mileage warranty plus up to five free labour services within 100,000 km or five years. That is sound, though less generous than the eight-year warranty now offered on the updated City.

Pros and Cons

  • Pros: full Honda Sensing on every variant, 10-inch screen across the range, 360-degree camera on the RS, practical crossover shape
  • Cons: single modest engine, only four airbags on E and V, price creeps above RM100k at the top

Verdict

The 2026 WR-V does not reinvent the formula, but it fixes the previous model's weak points. The V is probably the sweet spot: leather, automatic air-conditioning and Honda Sensing for under RM100,000. Choose the RS only if you value the 360-degree camera and extra airbags.
