Hyundai has entered Malaysia's affordable MPV segment with the Stargazer, launched on 22 September 2026. With three variants starting from RM99,800 and an eight-year warranty, it aims straight at family buyers who need seven seats without spending SUV money. The package also includes an unusual resale value guarantee, which is worth a close look.
2026 Hyundai Stargazer Price in Malaysia
| Variant | Seats | OTR Price (without insurance) |
|---|---|---|
| Style | 7 | RM99,800 |
| Prime | 7 | RM109,800 |
| X | 6 (captain chairs) | RM121,800 |
The headline price includes a RM1,000 reward for existing Hyundai owners. An early-bird package worth RM4,600, including four years of free service, is available to the first 800 customers.
Engine and Drive
Every Stargazer uses a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder producing 115 PS and 144 Nm, matched to a CVT (Hyundai calls it IVT) and front-wheel drive. This is not a fast MPV, but with a family on board it should be adequate and economical. The car is 4,575 mm long (4,610 mm for the X) on a 2,780 mm wheelbase.
Space and Practicality
Boot space is 182 litres with all seats up and expands to 1,892 litres with the second and third rows folded. The third row is tight for adults, as with most compact MPVs, but fine for children. The X replaces the middle bench with captain chairs for easier access to the back. There is no spare tyre; owners get a repair kit and a tyre pressure monitor.
Variant Breakdown
- Style: 16-inch wheels, 8-inch touchscreen, 4.2-inch multi-info display, four speakers, manual air-conditioning, rear drum brakes and a conventional handbrake. Only two airbags, and no rear occupant alert.
- Prime: 17-inch wheels, twin 10.25-inch displays, six speakers, part faux leather seats, automatic air-conditioning, electric parking brake with auto hold, rear disc brakes, six airbags and a fold-out passenger table.
- X: black-design 17-inch wheels, full faux leather, paddle shifters with twist selector, wireless charging pad, front and rear dashcams and exclusive Gravity Gold Matte paint.
All variants have automatic LED headlamps and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Safety
This is where the variant choice matters most. The Style has just two airbags. Prime and X add six airbags, a rear occupant alert and the SmartSense pack, which includes autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, lane centring, blind spot assist and rear cross-traffic alert with auto brake. For a family vehicle, the extra RM10,000 for the Prime is easy to justify on safety grounds alone.
Warranty and Resale Guarantee
All variants come with an eight-year or 160,000 km warranty. Hyundai also offers Resale Value Protection: 70% of the original price in year three (up to 60,000 km), 60% in year four and 50% in year five (up to 100,000 km). There is no fee, but the trade-in value must go toward another new Hyundai.
Pros and Cons
- Pros: long warranty, resale guarantee, SmartSense ADAS on upper variants, modern twin screens, flexible seating
- Cons: base Style has only two airbags, modest power, small boot with third row up, no spare tyre
Verdict
The Stargazer Prime at RM109,800 is the one to buy: it combines six airbags, ADAS and generous features in a practical seven-seater, backed by an unusually strong ownership package. Skip the base Style if safety matters to you.
