Chery Tiggo Cross Sport Edition Malaysia Review: Price RM83,800 and Features

Chery Malaysia has added a sportier-looking trim to its small crossover line-up. The Tiggo Cross Sport Edition, launched on 7 October 2026, is essentially the 1.5-litre turbo model with a dressed-up body kit. It is a clear example of how Chinese brands are chasing Malaysian buyers who want style and a long equipment list without paying a big premium.

Tiggo Cross Sport Edition Price

Official OTR price (without insurance)RM91,800
Price after running promotionRM83,800

The list price is RM3,000 above the regular Turbo variant. With the current promotion, the Sport Edition drops to RM83,800, which Chery says is RM5,000 below the standard Tiggo Cross price. Promotions are time-limited, so check the final figure with your dealer.

What Is New?

The changes are cosmetic. The front gets a gloss black lip with two centre openings and side winglets, while the rear gains a diffuser-style extension with a grille-like pattern and two non-functional silver tailpipes. Sport badges appear on the grille and tailgate. Chery did not add side skirts or a rear wing, so the stock spoiler stays. Inside, nothing changes. Colour choices are Carbon Black, Khaki White and Phantom Grey, while Blood Stone Red remains exclusive to the regular Turbo.

Engine and Performance

Power comes from a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder producing 147 PS and 210 Nm, driving the front wheels through a six-speed dual-clutch transmission. Chery claims 0-100 km/h in 10.3 seconds in Sport mode and fuel consumption of 6.3 litres per 100 km from a 51-litre tank. That is respectable rather than rapid, and the turbo torque should make overtaking easier than in naturally aspirated rivals.

Interior and Technology

Equipment is generous for the price. You get twin 10.25-inch screens, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 540-degree camera, six speakers and a 15W wireless charger. Faux leather seats, a powered driver's seat, ambient lighting and dual-zone climate control with rear vents add comfort. The car rides on 18-inch wheels fitted with 215/55 tyres and has LED headlamps, daytime running lights, functional roof rails and red brake calipers.

Safety

Six airbags are fitted, along with an ADAS suite that includes forward collision warning, autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning and prevention, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert and auto high beam. This is a comprehensive list for a car in this price range.

Warranty

Chery provides a seven-year or 150,000 km factory warranty plus free labour for six scheduled services, which lowers the risk of buying from a newer brand.

Pros and Cons

  • Pros: strong equipment list, ADAS as standard, seven-year warranty, turbo engine, sporty looks
  • Cons: styling-only changes, non-functional tailpipes, extra cost over regular Turbo unless the promo applies, moderate acceleration

Verdict

If the promotional price holds, the Sport Edition is an easy recommendation for anyone who likes the Tiggo Cross but wants more visual attitude. If you are paying the full RM91,800, the standard Turbo makes more sense, because the mechanical specification is identical.
