Ferrari Amalfi Spider Malaysia Preview: 640 PS V8 Soft-Top, Over RM3 Million

Ferrari's newest open-top grand tourer made its ASEAN debut in Kuala Lumpur on 2 September 2026. The Amalfi Spider is the convertible version of the Amalfi coupe, a front-engined V8 2+2 with 640 PS and a Z-fold fabric roof. Ital Auto, the local importer, has not announced an official price, but says it will be "somewhere in the RM3 million plus region" including duties and taxes.

Because the Roma Spider was RM3.2 million with taxes, the Amalfi Spider is expected to cost more.

Engine and Performance

The Amalfi Spider is powered by a 3.9-litre twin-turbo V8 (F154 BH) producing 640 PS at 7,500 rpm and 760 Nm between 3,000 and 5,750 rpm, which is 20 PS more than the Roma Spider. A revised eight-speed Magna wet dual-clutch transmission with a more powerful control unit sends power to the rear wheels. Ferrari quotes 0-100 km/h in 3.3 seconds, 0-200 km/h in 9.4 seconds and a top speed of 320 km/h. The convertible is 0.4 seconds slower to 200 km/h than the coupe because of its extra weight.

The Soft Top

A Z-fold, five-layer fabric roof opens in 13.5 seconds and can operate at speeds of up to 60 km/h. When stowed it is 220 mm thick, and boot space is 255 litres with the roof up and 172 litres with it down. An integrated wind deflector in the rear seat backs can be activated by a button and works at speeds up to 170 km/h, keeping the cabin calm with the roof down. Roof fabric options include four tailor-made colours and two technical fabrics, including the new Tecnico Ottanio.

Dimensions and Chassis

The car is 4,660 mm long, 1,974 mm wide and 1,305 mm tall, on a 2,670 mm wheelbase. Dry weight is 1,556 kg, compared with 1,470 kg for the coupe, and weight distribution is 48% front and 52% rear. Active rear aero offers Low Drag, Medium Downforce and High Downforce modes. It rolls on 20-inch wheels with 245/35 R20 front and 285/35 R20 rear tyres, and features ABS Evo, brake-by-wire and revised electric power steering.

Interior

The twin-cowl layout is driver-focused. A 10.25-inch landscape infotainment screen sits alongside a 15.6-inch digital instrument display, with an optional 8.8-inch passenger screen. Ferrari has brought back physical buttons on the multi-function steering wheel, including a start button, and there is a machined aluminium centre console with a gated gear selector and a Qi wireless charger. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are supported. The signature new colour is Rosso Tramonto, with orange undertones.

Pros and Cons

  • Pros: glorious V8, fast-folding roof, usable 2+2 layout, physical controls, striking design
  • Cons: price above RM3 million, heavier than the coupe, rear seats are small, official pricing not yet confirmed

Verdict

The Amalfi Spider combines open-air driving with Ferrari's best modern V8 in a car you can genuinely use every day. For buyers with the means, it is a compelling grand tourer. Watch for the official Malaysian price announcement from Ital Auto before booking.
