Jetour T2 i-DM PHEV Malaysia Review: 360 PS, 100 km EV Range, RM162,800

Plug-in hybrids are gaining popularity in Malaysia because they cut daily fuel costs without range anxiety, and Jetour has joined the trend with the T2 i-DM, launched on 19 September 2026 at RM162,800. It combines a boxy, off-road-inspired body with a large battery and a claimed total range of 1,200 km.

T2 Dark Warrior Limited Edition (petrol)from about RM167,600

The PHEV costs just RM6,000 more than the petrol T2, which is a small premium for a hybrid system with this much capability.

Powertrain

The i-DM uses a series-hybrid setup with a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine (136 PS and 220 Nm) and two electric motors, giving combined output of 360 PS and 610 Nm through a three-speed dedicated hybrid transmission. Unlike the petrol T2, it is front-wheel drive only, so it loses the petrol model's all-wheel drive. Drive modes include Normal, Economy, Sport and Snow, plus EV and HEV modes.

Battery, Range and Charging

An 18.4 kWh LFP battery supplied by BYD provides over 100 km of electric-only range. Jetour claims 1,200 km combined range with the 70-litre fuel tank, though the test cycle has not been specified. Charging is flexible: DC fast charging at up to 57 kW takes the battery from 30% to 80% in 27 minutes, a 6.6 kW AC charger takes under three hours from 30% to full, and a portable 2.2 kW charger takes under six hours. A vehicle-to-load function delivers up to 3.3 kW, handy for camping or power cuts.

Size and Interior

The T2 measures 4,785 mm long, 2,006 mm wide and 1,870 mm tall on a 2,800 mm wheelbase, with 20-inch wheels. Inside are a 10.25-inch driver display, a 15.6-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual-zone climate control, a 50W wireless charger, a 12-speaker Sony audio system and a 360-degree camera. The PHEV adds an illuminated gear knob, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror and mirrors that tilt down when reversing.

Safety

Standard safety covers six airbags, tyre pressure monitoring and a full Level 2 ADAS suite. The T2 range holds a five-star ASEAN NCAP rating, a useful reassurance for family buyers.

Warranty

Jetour offers a seven-year or 150,000 km vehicle warranty, an eight-year or 160,000 km high-voltage battery warranty and a ten-year or 1,000,000 km engine warranty, plus five free services. The early-bird offer gives the first 2,000 buyers up to RM3,000 in value, either a free 7 kW wallbox with installation or RM2,000 of ChargeSini credit, with a free V2L cable.

Pros and Cons

  • Pros: small premium over petrol, big battery, very long total range, strong warranty, high equipment level
  • Cons: front-wheel drive only, claimed range cycle unclear, large size, DC charging speed is modest

Verdict

For buyers who can charge at home, the T2 i-DM could run mostly on electricity during the week and still handle long balik kampung trips on petrol. At RM162,800 it is one of the better-value PHEVs in Malaysia right now, as long as you do not need the petrol car's AWD.
