Plug-In Hybrid Powertrain

The GLC350e combines a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine (204 PS and 320 Nm) with an electric motor (129 PS and 440 Nm). Together they produce 313 PS and 550 Nm through a nine-speed automatic. The electric-only range exceeds 100 km on the WLTP cycle, so many owners can complete their daily commute entirely on electricity and only use petrol for longer trips. This is a notable strength of the car, because it offers a real alternative to a full EV without any range anxiety.

What the Nightfall Edition Adds

The Nightfall Edition is a cosmetic upgrade only; the mechanicals and equipment are unchanged. The Night Package includes gloss-black trim on the star pattern, radiator louvre, beltline strips, window frames, mirror housings and the rear apron and diffuser. Dark chrome door handles and black 20-inch AMG multi-spoke wheels complete the look. If you like understated, menacing styling, it works well on the coupe's sloping roofline.

Standard Equipment

The Nightfall comes with Digital Light and Adaptive Highbeam Assist Plus, Artico man-made leather upholstery with an Artico-wrapped dashboard, and a 15-speaker Burmester sound system, which is among the best audio systems in this class. Seven airbags are fitted.

Safety and Driver Assistance

The Driving Assistance Package Plus is standard. It includes Distronic adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, lane centring and front and rear cross-traffic alert with autonomous braking. Together with seven airbags, this gives the GLC a strong safety foundation, and the semi-autonomous features reduce fatigue on long drives.

Who Is It For?

The GLC350e Nightfall suits buyers who want a luxury SUV with the efficiency of a plug-in hybrid, and who care about styling. The coupe roofline reduces rear headroom and boot practicality slightly compared with the regular GLC, so those who prioritise space may prefer the standard body.

Living With a Plug-In Hybrid

To get the most from the GLC350e, you will want to charge it regularly. With an electric range above 100 km on the WLTP cycle, a home or office charger can turn most weekday commutes into zero-petrol journeys. If you rarely plug in, you will carry the weight of the battery without the savings, so the car makes the most sense for owners with reliable access to charging. Drivers who do a lot of long-distance highway work will appreciate that the petrol engine removes any range worries, making it a flexible bridge between conventional and fully electric luxury cars.

Pros and Cons

  • Pros: over 100 km electric range, strong combined output, premium Burmester audio, attractive Night Package, comprehensive safety
  • Cons: RM17,000 for cosmetics only, coupe shape limits rear space, high price

Verdict

If you were already planning to buy the GLC350e Coupe, the Nightfall Edition is a stylish extra that makes the car look more aggressive. If looks are not a priority, the regular model gives you the same driving experience for less. Either way, the plug-in hybrid drivetrain is the real star.
